The January blues are real and they are hitting me hard at the moment. The cold weather and depression after christmas are tough at the moment and they are not helped by the fact that my parents are heading to South Africa for 4 weeks soon and I'll be stuck at home in the cold. This year is going to be a big one for me and my boyfriend as we are buying a house and it's just a waiting game for it to be built, we have been given a date for May so it's now a waiting game and lots of saving to do. Today's post is some of the tips I am using to help get me out of this rut.
HAVE A NICE LONG BATH
There is nothing better in these long cold nights than to have a long soak in the bath, i'm not the biggest fan of baths but when i've had a long day at work I find a soak is perfect to relieve some stress. Lush's bath range is my go to and a bath bomb adds a little fun to it. Snow Fairy is one of my favourite scents and i'm just annoyed that it's not permanent as I will have to wait for next year for my next fix. This year they released a bath bomb version of this and that sweet sugary scent fills the room as soon as it hits the water.
LOOKING AFTER MY HAIR
Having a bath hair day can change my whole mood and my hair is long and dyed blonde so it takes quite a bit of looking after. I try to do a hair mask once a week to help repair and rebuild my hair and leaving it soft, however, more recently I am doing them more often to help keep my hair looking and feeling amazing. My favourite mask has to be the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer as it is really intensive and after just one treatment my hair feels 10 times better. Another mask I have tried recently after picking it up the in Boots sale, is the Umberto Gianni Over Indulge Nourishing Hair Mask, this can be used in the shower as a quick mask or before a shower for a longer period of time. After using this my hair feels like it's straight from the salon and deeply conditioned.
DOING A FACE MASK
After overindulging this Christmas my skin is feeling the effects and I have had quite a few breakouts so I have been trying out some masks to really clear up my skin. I find that a good clay mask really works wonders on my skin and any excess oils is drawn out and helps combat breakouts, the Super Facialist Salicylic Acid Anti Blemish Clay Mask is a super intensive treatment but it really works. Salicylic acid is known to unclog congested skin and keep blemishes at bay. A good peel off mask also feels good on the skin as I always feel like i'm peeling off all the dirt and impurities that I don't need there. The 7th Heaven Charcoal Peel Off Mask is a favourite of mine as its one of the only ones that doesn't hurt my skin when I remove it. The charcoal base is perfect for drawing out all of the excess oils and dirt that can help increase the chance of getting blemishes and leaves skin feeling smooth and clean.
READ MORE/GETTING BACK INTO FITNESS
I say this all the time but I really want to start reading more as I can really relax when doing it and I won't be constantly checking social media. I have a Kindle so i'm going to try and download more books and read more on there and try and stop watching TV late at night. This year I am also going to read Khloe Kardashian's book again as that girl is serious goals and i'm hoping it will kick my butt into getting back to the gym and healthy eating. I'm also super happy that her programme, Revenge Body, is back on this week as the transformations are amazing. The latter part of 2017 saw me go to the gym a total of zero times as I just lost all motivation for it so I really need to get back to it, my plan was to go last Sunday but I woke up with the worst migraine so it was a day in bed for me but I will get back to it soon. I am also keen to start swimming as everyone raves about how its such good exercise but it's not sweating in the gym so I need to find a gym with a pool.
What are your tips for getting over the January blues?
