EVERY LIP FORMULA YOU NEED

I swear at the moment there are so many different formulas of lip products around it is hard to know what to choose and whether it will work for you. I am a bit of a lip products addict so have quite a few different formulas and finishes. There are liquids, lipsticks glosses and pencils and every different finish you could ask for. Today i'm sharing some of my favourites and the brands that I love.

GLOSS

For year I haven't really worn gloss as it reminded me of being younger and wearing pink glittery gloss, however, I have recently fallen back in love with it. I tend to favour pigmented glosses now that have a lot of colour but also that shiny finish. A favourite of mine is the Tarte Lip Sculptor (£21.00), it features a lipstick and a pigmented gloss. The gloss is thick so it covers the lip easily but it isn't sticky or gloopy, Sass is a pretty nude pink shade that is one of those your lips but better shades. Another gloss that is pretty are the MAC Lipglass (£15.50), they can give the lips a gorgeous glass effect or those with a bright colour will give more of a coloured sheen. Pink Lemonade is a pretty neon coral shade and perfect for a quick lip during the summer months.

LIPSTICK

Lipstick is quite general as you can get so many different finished with in. I always look at MAC and the different finishes they do as this tends to translate to other brands, they have matte, lustre, satin, cream sheen etc. MAC for me have the classic matte finish, and although I can find certain shades more drying than others I love how it stays in place all day and still looks matte. Honeylove is a favourite shade of mine and is a classic cool toned nude. When my lips are dry I cant really wear matte lipstick so a creamy satin finish is more for me. The Tom Ford Lipstick (£40.00) has a gorgeous finish that keeps my lips so moisturised but also with a pretty colour play off. It included ingredients such as soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and camomilla flower oil which all help moisture the lips and keep them plump and soft.

SHIMMER

This is a relatively new finish for me, however I am wearing it more and more lately and I love using a shimmer over a lipstick or an extra pop. With a shimmer finish you can either get this in a gloss format or a more out there metallic. Colourpop have a lovely range of metallic lips at adorable pricing but there gloss My Jam ($6.00), is a mix between metallic and gloss as its very pigmented but still with a shiny finish. As I said earlier lip toppers are another way to wear shimmer and the Jouer Skinny Dip lip topper (£13.50) is such a pretty gold that looks perfect on top of a nude. I have also found a drugstore dupe for this, L'Oreal Infallible Lip Gloss Disco Ball (£6.99), it is pretty much a perfect match for Skinny Dip although it is a little more bronze but you really cant tell when its on. Another favourite shimmer of mine is the Lime Crime Diamond Crushers (£15.00), they are a really intense glitter. Chokeis a white nude shade with blue reflects that look so pretty when the sun shines on it.

BALM

This type of lipstick is my go to everyday look as you get the benefit of moisturising your lips whilst getting a pretty colour too. The YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick (£28.00) is a favourite or mine as I have got quite a few shades from them. You get intense shine and shimmer from these and they add a hint of colour to your lips but still looking very natural, and it has a lovely sweet peach scent that i'm obsessed with. Another balm I like is the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine (£25.00), it's very similar to the YSL one but isn't quite as shiny.

LIQUID LIPSTICK

This is probably the biggest trend for the past few years and it doesn't seem to be dying down any time soon. Most brands are now stepping into this market but there are some old favourites that nailed this a while back now. The Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (£17.00) is one of my favourite formulas, its very matte but a creamy formula and it lasts for hours. Bow N Arrow is a classic mauve pink nude shade. I do find some liquid lipsticks to be quite drying but the Huda Beauty Liquid Mattes (£18.00) are so comfortable to wear on my lips, they don't dry down completely matte so that is probably why they aren't too drying but they still have that matte effect. Venus is a gorgeous nude brown shade and one of my favourite shades. Another more affordable liquid lipstick brand is Colourpop ($6.00), they have both a matte and satin finish. I do find the matte finish to be very drying and it ends up looking patchy if I layer too much on. Their satin finish is more of a favourite of mine as it isn't so drying and has a slight sheen to the finish. One of the satin shades I love is Screenshot, it's a pretty deep peach shade.

PENCIL

This style is usually associated with lip liners but now there are more and more pencils that are chubbier style so it can be used on the lips all over. I find that these are so convenient to use as you can apply them quickly and easily and you can do you lipstick quite precisely. The Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pencils (£4.99) are the perfect drugstore pick, they are creamy to apply with a matte finish. Other lip pencil favourites of mine are the Colourpop Lippie Stix and Nars Lip Pencils.

What is your favourite lip formula?

  2. MAC matte lipsticks have always been one of my favourite lipstick formulas, and they have the best shade selection. I love matte lips in general so am still really into the liquid lipstick trend. I love the Kat Von D and ColourPop ones too!
