WEDDING GUEST MAKEUP

With the weather we are having at the moment it seems summer is pretty much over and so wedding season would be over too, however, obviously weddings are all year round. I attended my first wedding last Friday and so I thought I could share the makeup I picked for the day. For a wedding I try to pick looks that would match what i'm wearing and for this one I wore a yellow floral dress so went for a glowing golden look.

The wedding I attended started at 12 and obviously went on all night so I wanted makeup that would last, I picked the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer (£20.00), I find that this silky primer smoothes over my skin beautifully and is weightless. It's an oil free formula so it helps keep shine at bay, this is quite pricey especially for the full size but I would say its worth it. As it was going to quite a long day I knew I wanted a full coverage but not heavy on the skin foundation so I went for the Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Cream (£34.00), this is the ultimate coverage and evens out my skin tone hiding any blemishes but it isn't heavy or cakey on the skin. I find that once this is on my skin it doesn't smudge or wear off and I know it will last me a long time.

For my concealer I went for my all time favourite, the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (£24.00) as it is the only thing to hide all my blemishes and stay in place all day. It's a cream formula that I thought would be heavy as its very full coverage but its still light on the eye area and doesn't crease throughout the day. To brighten other areas of my face I went for the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer (£7.99) it's not a full coverage so I don't use under my eyes but it gives a lot of radiance and brightening so I use it on my forehead and chin. To set my concealer and foundation in place I went for the Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder (£29.00), it's a very light weight powder and translucent so it doesn't change the colour of my foundation or concealer but locks it all in place and gets rid of shine.

On to bronzer and the cult favourite, Nars Laguna Bronzer (£28.00) is a favourite of mine as its such a lovely chocolate bronze shade with a slight shimmer to it so its helps the skin glow. I like to use this lightly to warm up my skin and then heavier on my cheek bones for contouring. I enhance this and highlight with Becca Prosecco Pop (£32.00), Champagne Pop is definitely the most famous but I wanted Prosecco Pop for this as its more of a golden colour rather than peachy. These highlighters are so intense and do literally pop on your skin so they are some of my favourites. Blush I use this Smashbox one that unfortunately isn't available any more but I'm sure there are similar out there. It's a lovely soft pink shade with a fine shimmer to it so it gives that flushed cheeks look.

Onto the eyes and as I said earlier I wanted a glowing bronzed looks. I started off using the ABH Modern Renaissance Palettes (£41.00), and went for the shades, Golden Ochre, Raw Sienna, Primavera and Cyprus Umber to create a soft smoky eye look with a shimmery lid. To add something a little special to the look I use the Jouer Skinny Dip Palette (£35.00), with its intense shimmers. I added Skinny Dip and Tan Lines on top of the other shades for an intense shimmer. This palette is one of my faves as I love a glittery eyeshadow and the formula of these are amazing.

For my lashes I started with the Tarte Maneater Mascara (£19.00), it has a chubby silicone brush to help coat every last and add some volume. Since it was a wedding false lashes were a must and the Koko 102 Lashes (£7.50) are my favourite style, they add a good amount of volume and length but still look natural. I find these lashes so comfortable as they have a tiny lash band so it almost feels invisible. One of the last steps is my brows and a new love of mine is the L'Oreal Paradise Brow Pomade (£9.99), it's very similar to the ABH DipBrow but probably more waxy than creamy. This really helps define my brows and fill them in and it stays in place all day.

Finally onto the lips and as I was wearing quite a bright coloured dress I went for a simple lip. MAC Honeylove (£16.50) is one of my go to nude shades and it went perfectly with this look. Its a matte formula but still creamy to apply and its a soft beige shade. I topped this with the Jouer Skinny Dip Lip Topper (£13.50) to add some shimmer. This is a soft gold shade that paired with nude lip looks so pretty. I also like this as its glossy so it doesn't dry your lips out. To keep all my makeup locked in throughout the day the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray (£22.00) is perfect and it also have a slight shimmer running through it so it adds a glow to my skin.

What are your wedding makeup picks?

  4. I think my makeup for a wedding would be very simple. A satin finish foundation, a mauve blush, blinding highlight on the cheekbones, under the brow bone and inner corner, a shiny eyeshadow on the lid just to give "something" to the eyes, lots of mascara and good mauve lipstick! xx

  5. I absolutely loved this post. My aunt is getting married next month, and I'm debating over doing my own makeup and going to a makeup artist. Now after reading this post, I think I'm just going to invest in some new makeup products and do it myself. xx
