DRUGSTORE HAUL

Drugstore haul

I love a good drugstore haul and I don't tend to get the guilt like you can when you buy something more expensive, although what I spend would probably buy a few higher end products anyway. Superdrug and Boots have had quite a few good deals on at the moment so I have picked up quite a few new releases.

I used to love these a few years back but in the end they got pushed to the back of my collection in favour of others, however, this one really caught my eye and it reminded me about how much I loved them. This shade is Pearlescent Sheen and as the name it would suggest its a pretty pearl shade with an iridescent blue tint to it so its definitely for those with paler skin. I love how in the sunlight this really shimmers and the blue pops but doesn't look silly like you would think with a blue highlighter.

I love trying out new setting sprays and finding gems that will help keep my makeup locked in place all day. I picked this one up as keeping my makeup is place is what it says it will so. This can be used as both a primer and setting spray, it's oil free so wont add any shine and dries down quickly. I'll be trying this out over the next few weeks and if it lives up to expectations i'm sure it will be mentioned again on my blog.

These have impressed me so much since buying the first one that I keep picking up more and more shades every time I see them. These are very matte and can be a little drying but I don't find them uncomfortable, although if you keep applying more layers they can become flakey and patchy. These are lightweight and you can either apply a thin layer for subtle colour or another layer for more intense colour. My favourite shade is definitely Latte To Go, which is a cool toned coffee nude.

I love that drugstore brands are bringing out liquid lipsticks and these new Maybelline ones promise intense colour with 12 hour wear. I have only tested this colour out and have yet to wear it all day so I can't comment on the wear time. I picked up the shade Loyalist, which is a soft pinky nude.

I read a few people rave about this foundation so I just had to pick it up, I'm trying to try out more drugstore foundations and this one has impressed me so far. This has a medium coverage but is lightweight and gives my skin a flawless finish. This has a matte finish but it isn't drying and keeps shine at bay. This is will definitely be a favourite for me and I love how it lasts all day without going patchy or wearing off.

True match foundation is one I actually haven't tried yet but I definitely will be soon, although I was drawn to the concealer once it was released. This is a creamy concealer that really brightens up my under eyes, I don't find the coverage to be the best so I apply another underneath and use this to brighten.

I have been so hesitant to try these out after hearing so many people say that you have to remove the top layer before you can get a nice amount of product. I have tried to wear away the top layer in the hope that I can get the good amount of highlighter but it still isn't very intense. I picked up Blush Gems, which is a soft focus peachy champagne shade, that I think is quite similar to Becca Champagne Pop.

I was excited to see these launched as I've wanted to try the Cover FX drops for a while and these seem to be the perfect dupes. I normally prefer a powder highlighter but I wanted something like this for my holiday so I could wear on its own when my skin has a nice sun kissed glow to it. I went for three shade; Rose Gold, Champagne and Starlight. I did want the Unicorn Elixir one but it sold out so fast and I haven't had chance to pick up one since its  been restocked.

Any mascara that promises to give both length and volume is one I need to try and this was on offer in Superdrug. This has a silicone tapered brush with lots of small bristles to help coat every lash easily.

When I saw this range released earlier in the summer I just had to try out some bits, I picked up the mascara as it was on offer for £3.99 and had 3 for 2 so even if it didn't work for me it wasn't a massive waste. This promises to give volume to even the tiniest of lashes and give you that three dimensional look without clumping. This has a narrow plastic brush that helps get to the base of each lash.

Now onto the stand out product I have tried and I'm so impressed with it. One thing I wish in life is to have evenly filled in brows even without makeup and this solves all my problems. You apply this like you would a brow pomade into your desired shade, I like to leave on for around an hour and then you get up to 3 days wear time. Once dry the gel like formula peels away with ease and doesn't pull on any hairs, leaving behind tinted brows in the shape you want that almost looks as if you've drawn them on. I am thinking of doing a post solely on this so i'll include before and after photos and you can see just how god this is.

I am trying more bits from e.l.f. now that its easily available in Superdrug. I was draw to this primer as when I tested it in the store it has such a smooth, silky texture that smoothed out my skin. The formula helps smooth out pores, reduce dryness and reduce fine lines helping foundation apply smoothly and not settle on dry patches or lines.

Have you tried any of these drugstore products?

  2. I picked up a superstay matte ink, and oh my god that stuff did not want to come off my lips! I had to scrub my lips with a coffee scrub and still rub quite hard with micellar water, 100% SUPER stay!

  3. I'm really excited to try some of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Inks! They're definitely one of those products that I wished we would get over in the UK from watching American beauty influencers on YouTube, and seeing Instagram pictures! The colour you picked up looks lovely.

  6. I really want to pick up one of the MUR liquid highlighters! I have the Blush Gems highlighter and I'm also not a big fan of it even after I scraped it off. It's a bit rough and shimmery for me.
