If you follow me on Twitter you might have seen me mention that I'm off to Barcelona a week today and I couldn't be more excited. I did say at the beginning of the year I wanted to go on some more city breaks this year and Barcelona was top of my list, also since it has a beach its kind of a mini holiday as I'm not going on a beach holiday this year until the end of September. For me a city break makeup bag is so tough as I own so much makeup its hard to narrow down
For my base I'll start with a primer and the one I'll be taking it the Too Faced Hangover Face Primer (£27.00) as its the best one at keeping my face moisturised and especially in the heat. Its not amazing at keeping my makeup in place but its good enough for a days wear. The moisturising properties in this also keep my skin looking nice and dewy which is perfect when on holiday. For my foundation i'll be taking my Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick (£42.00), this is one of my favourite foundations and although its pricey it gives such amazing finish. Its quite a full coverage but lightweight on my skin and blends seamlessly to give such a flawless finish. I actually haven't worn it this is warm weather so I'm hoping it holds up but I'll still take another foundation as a backup.
Onto concealer and before I add a nice skin tone shade I have to use the Becca Under Eye Brightening Concealer (£21.00), its the perfect peachy tone that eliminates the darkness under my eyes but its a thin layer so doesn't look cakey. For concealer i'll be taking the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (£23.00), its pretty much the best concealer i've tried and I go back to other but this is still a firm favourite. Its creamy but not thick with amazing coverage and doesn't look cakey and dries to a matte finish without the need for a setting powder. Although my under eye doesn't need setting I do apply a powder all over my face to eliminate any shine, the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder (£18.00) is the one i'll be taking, its not my favourite but its great for travelling in its tub and locks all my makeup in place without making it feel dry or powdery.
I am hoping I will catch a bit of a tan whilst in my Barcelona but I will also fake tan before going to add some warmth to my skin and to enhance that I'll be using the Topshop Horizon Highlighter (£12.00) to add some warmth to my skin and a little bit of a shimmer. I know that this is a highlighter but for me its too warm so I use it as a base for my contour. And onto that i'll be taking my Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder (£32.00) as its amazing at adding definition to the hollows of my cheeks.
On to my favourite part of my makeup routine - highlighter. For the trip i'll be taking with my the gorgeous Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette (£48.00), it features the famous Champagne Pop, its little sister Prosecco Pop and three blushes Amaretto, Rose Spritz and Pamplemousse. I'll be taking this as it will save space on lots of little compacts and it contains my favourite highlighter and some gorgeous blushers for bronzed skin. As well as the blushers in this palette I will also be taking my Tarte Amazonian Clay !2 Hour Blush in Achiote (£23.00), its a gorgeous peachy pink shade that really flatters my skin tone and has lovely pigmentation. To lock my makeup in place I love the Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray (£23.50), this is a really light mist that sets on my face beautifully without adding any wetness or markings. This one is oil control formula so I'm hoping it will stop any shine from the warm weather.
For my brows I'll be taking my trusty Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade (£18.00), i've actually almost finished my second pot so I'm hoping to pick up another whilst I'm out there. This is honestly the only brow product that sculpts and fills in my brows how I like them and keeps them in place all day even in hot weather. Just for extra setting powder on my brows i'm taking the Benefit Gimme Brow (£20.00) as it tidies away every stray hair whilst also adding some colour to my brows.
I'll be taking two eyeshadow palettes with me because of course one just isn't enough. The Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette (£17.50) was my first choice with a selection of bronzes, golds and neutral browns which are all my favourite shades. The Zoeva eyeshadows are so lovely to wear and blend beautifully. The other eyeshadow palette I'm taking is the Tarte Maneater Eyeshadow palette, which seems to be unavailable now but hopefully it comes back. This palette includes 7 eyeshadows and 1 highlighter shades, these eyeshadows are neutrals, browns and a rosy pink shade. There is also a pale gold highlighter in the palette so I'll have another choice while I'm away.
I will be taking a few pairs of eyelashes away with me but the day time and nights I don't want to wear any I'll be using my new favourite mascara, Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara (£7.99), it has a thick and fluffy brush that grabs every lash and coats them adding lots of volume. I will also take with me the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes (£23.00), its a very similar style brush to the Maybelline one but this formula is a lot thicker and waxier (if you get me) so it adds lots of volume but also thickens each individual lash.
Finally on to my lips and for the purpose of this picture I have only included a trusty MAC shade I will be taking, Yash (£16.50) is a deep neutral nude shade in a matte formula, however I find it quite creamy to wear and comfortable. I like pairing this with either the Jouer Lip Topper (£13.50) in Skinny Dip or Rose Gold for some added sparkle. Another lip product I will be taking is my MAC lipsticks in Flamingo and Morange, Flamingo is a milky neon coral in a sheer finish and Morange is a brighter reddish orange.
