DRUGSTORE HAUL

Recently I have picked up lots of new products from Boots, Superdrug etc. I tend to go through phases with drugstore makeup, sometimes it can be months without me buying anything from there and then all of a sudden I will spend a small fortune in there. I had actually been racking up a bit of a list of different products I wanted to try out or repurchase. Today's post is a haul of all the products I have picked up over the last few months.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick | £6.99

I'd seen a lot of people mention how much the love the Clay Crush lipstick from this collection so I decided to finally pick it up and also went for another shade at the same time. As the name would suggest this lipstick is creamy and moisturising but with a matte finish, also it's not as matte as the likes of the MAC ones. Clay Crush is a pale brown nude shade and very similar to MAC's Brave in my opinion. The other one I picked up is Nude Embrace, which as you would suggest is your typical cool toned nude shade.

L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt Foundation | £8.99

I picked this up after hearing Georgie from As You Wish UK rave about it. I was a little sceptical at first as they only did two shades - light & medium/dark. I thought I would have been the light shade but the medium/dark was actually perfect for me. This is a thin layer of foundation perfect for using underneath your cream contour, however, I actually found this to be good enough coverage to use as a normal foundation!

Boots Time Delay Flawless Primer | £10.99

I'm sure this was one of the cult products I saw mentioned in the The Pretty Iconic book and since it can be featured in a book like that it must be good. The primer is a silicon based products so smooths out my skin and creates a flawless base for my foundation application. I don't really find it extends the wear of my foundation but it definitely helps my foundation apply smoothly and evenly.

Maybelline 24 Karat Nudes Eyeshadow Palette | £9.99

I went for this one as Maybelline has buy one get one half price and i'd been wanting to try out their eyeshadow palettes for a while. This one called out to me as it had rich, vibrant metallic shades and a great selection of nudes. I don't find the formula of these i've tried, they aren't the most pigmented or blendable but they still apply nicely and wear for a long time.

Makeup Revolution Love the Revolution Palette | £8.00

This was the free gift I got for spending £12 on MUR and it's probably my favourite one out of everything I got from the brand. This palette contains six eyeshadow shades and a highlighter in the middle heart shade. The eyeshadows are neutral shades in a matte and shimmer finish and the highlighter is a soft shimmery pink.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Cream Contour Kit | £3.50

My ABH cream contour kit is almost finished up of my favourite shades so I picked this one up to try as a cheaper alternative. The palette contains a contour, highlighter and strobing cream. I actually really like this, the cream applies really nicely and I always add a tiny drop of facial oil to make it creamier and smooth to apply. I especially like the highlighter shade for lining my brows.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Liquid Lipstick | £8.99

I have been wanting to try these for a while and the colour selection seems so pretty and colourful. I went for Passion, which is a deep berry red shade and the perfect valentines colour. I have to shade I don't these matte at all, they are more like a thick and very opaque gloss, I don't mind this but they should be called matte.

L'Oreal Infallible Matte Lip in Raspoutine-Me | £6.99 (similar here)

I can't seem to find this online anywhere so I have linked a similar shade in the gloss formula. This is a vibrant orange red shade, that will be one of my go to colours for summer. It has a muted finish but I wouldn't say it was completely matte, it also has quite a odd applicator, it's a waved design with a pointed tip applicator.

L'Oreal False Lash X Fibre Mascara | £10.99

This new release by L'Oreal is a double ended mascara with a base coat on one end and fibres at the other. I have tried fibre mascaras before and really wasn't keen but thought this one was worth a try as the fibres were mixed in with a mascara rather than a separate coat. I really didnt like the fibre end of this, I didnt find it extended my lashes at all and I couldnt apply is easily! I did, however, like the way the base coat made my lashes look, it gave volume and length and thickened out each lash.

Revlon All-In-One Mascara | £9.99

This is probably my biggest regret purchase as I really couldnt get along with with. The wand itself was awful, an odd curved silicon that I found was too small and didnt do anything to my lashes. I really wanted to like the mascara from this new Revlon range but this was awful, so maybe I need to try a different one.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Paint in Golden Eye | £5.99

This is another new release by L'Oreal and as soon as I saw them I need I had to try. I'm all about a shimmer eye and love trying out different types of products. This is a creamy, glossy formula that can be applied with a sponge applicator. Golden Eye is a true yellow gold shade that I like to use with a bronzey, gold eye.

Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Lip Kit in Reign | £6.00

I spotted these dupes for the Kylie Lip Kits in Superdrug needed to have a try but I'm so disappointed that my lip liner broke straight away. Anyway the liquid lipstick itself is actually quite nice, I don't find it as drying as the Kylie ones and a more creamy formula. Reign is a pinky nude shade and I would liken it to Koko K from Kylie's collection.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Highlighter Pen | £8.49

This dupe for the YSL Touch Eclat has been on my wishlist for a while. It's a pen style with a brush at the end to apply the products with, pretty much exactly the same as the YSL one. I apply this after my concealer for adding brightness and blend in using a sponge, it really just accentuates the highlighted area and brightens my complexion.

Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick Chauffeur | £3.00

Yes I did buy a lipstick for the pretty packaging but I do really like the MUR lipsticks, I find them to be creamy and smell lovely and sweet. The don't wear the best and you do need to reapply after a short while but for £3 you can't complain. Chauffeur is a dusky pink shade that on me really enhances my natural lip shade.

What have you picked up recently from the drugstore?

  1. I have tried out the mascara and I am in love with the mascara wand, but the fibre end is still growing on me. I know what you mean though! I find it super hard to coat the mascara after the fibres as well!
