NARS | SHEER GLOW V. ALL DAY LUMINOUS WEIGHTLESS

Today's post is all about these two NARS cult foundations and a comparison between the two. These two are so popular in the beauty world and I don't think i've ever met anyone who has disliked these foundations or has something bad to say about them. There is the Sheer Glow and All Day Luminous Weightless, and I'm going to talk you through the formula, finish and shade selection of them both.

Let start with the packaging, they both have the signature matte black lids, which I have to say I am not the biggest fan out as it gets so dirty and just doesn't see to clean. Sheer Glow has quite a short square bottle with rounded edges, whereas the All Day one is a taller bottle with much more squared off edges. One of the downsides to Sheer Glow is that it doesn't come with a pump and you have to buy one if you want one. The All Day one does come with a pump thankfully, which stops you from using too much.

Both of these have a different formula and finish but I would say both are a medium to full coverage but nothing heavy compared to the likes of Estee Lauder Double wear. Sheer Glow is more of a creamy formula than the All Day one which I find to be quite watery, so it tends to cover a lot more with a little amount. However, I find that both of these give my skin good coverage without a lot of product and cover all imperfections and smooth out my skin tone.

The finish of the Sheer Glow obviously brightens the skin tone and illuminates it from within. However, I don't think this too OTT as its more of a natural glow. It also doesn't leave your skin feeling sticky, which is what I can find with a lot of other dewy, glowing foundations. The All Day Luminous Weightless is more of a muted/matte finish but still illuminates the skin.

In terms of shade selection they both have around 20 shades each and I'm sure NARS are good at making sure there is a shade for everyone. In Sheer Glow I wear Punjab, which is a medium with a golden, peachy undertone. In All Day I wear Vallauris, which is a medium with peach undertones, this one is slightly too dark for me if I haven't fake tanned, so I think i'll pick up a lighter shade next time.

Do any of you own these foundations?

  3. Which one would you say is better for oily skin? Are these foundations long lasting at all? It's always the main thing I look for when searching for the perfect base, I have my eye on the All Day Luminous base but I'm still unsure! x

  5. I own the sheer glow one. I think I have a shade that is too light but I make it work with my bronzer to bring it to a reasonable colour. The only issue I've found with it, is that I've noticed it's better when I've applied setting spray than without. It doesn't seem to set well around my nose for some reason!
