10 STEP MAKEUP

On a work day I like to keep my makeup simple and quick, mainly for the fact that I can't get up early enough to be able to do anything elaborate. This post is going to be how I would do my makeup in 10 quick and easy steps with some of my favourite 10 products. I find that these 10 products help create a naturally everyday makeup that will also stay in place all day.

1 - Primer

Recently I picked up the Benefit thePorefessional Face Primer (£24.50) and have remembered how good it is. I used to use this a few years ago when I had a sample of it and found it was great but the sample didn't last long. This primer has a silicon texture so it smooths over your skin easily and fills in all your pores. It is beige in colour but translucent once apply, although I find it seems to even out my skin tone. This creates a smooth and silky base for your foundation and helps it last longer and not go patchy.

2 - Foundation

One of my new favourites for a natural every day look is the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (£29.00). I find it to be a really natural finish with medium coverage so great for a day at work, although this can be built up for fuller coverage. This contains coconut water to help keep the skin hydrated and replenish the moisture levels throughout the day. The finish of this is satin so there is a slight glow to your skin with it on.

3- Concealer

Of course I pair the foundation with the Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer (£20.00), like the foundation this isn't too heavy or thick but still covers up my dark under eye circles. I went for the shade light and its perfect for brightening under my eyes but isn't too contrasting from the rest of my face. One thing I have to make sure with this concealer is that I set it quickly, otherwise it does crease and that leads me to step four.

4 - Powder

For this post I forfeited the two powders I would normally use and instead included my absolute favourite setting powder the Ben Nye Banana Powder (£13.95). I apply this on top of my concealer straight away and leave whilst I get on with brows etc. Once the excess is buffed away it leaves my skin mattified but not dried out and eliminates any creasing my concealer would normally do. Since this makeup look only has this powder when buffing the excess away I would buff it into the rest of my face to reduce any stickiness my foundation may have and to ensure its all locked in place.

5 - Bronzer/Contour

This looks calls for a bronzer that will add warmth to my cheeks but also add definition to my cheek bones. The NARS Laguna Bronzer (£28.00) is the perfect fit for this as its a warm chocolate shade that has a hint of shimmer but it isn't too orange and you can still contour with it. I have found this to be so pigmented that you don't need a lot to make and impact and it really picked up well onto your brush.

6 - Highlight

I have included an old favourite in this post as I may not use it as much any more with all the others I have but its still the best. The cult highlighter The Balm Mary Lou Manizer (£17.49) is the prettiest silvery champagne shade and the perfect thing to add a dewy glow to paler skin tones. This formula is so buttery and soft and it glides onto the skin so easily leaving behind a dewy sun kissed glow.

7 - Brows

For my brows I had to use my absolute dream product and that is the ABH DipBrow Pomade (£15.00). I have tried out lots of other brow products before and after using this and nothing compares for me. This creamy formula glides onto my brows so nicely filling them and defining them at the same time.

8 - Eyeshadow

I decided to include in this post one of my go to palettes lately, the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette (£17.50). It was a toss up between this one and the new Caramel Melange one but this is slightly more cool and neutral tones (I will be comparing the two in the next few days). This one has nudes, browns, purples and darker blacks and greys. I like to use the mid-tonal browns for an everyday look and add definition with the darker Freshly Toasted shade.

9 - Mascara

My absolute go to mascara is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara (£7.99). This is one of the only mascaras I will wear on its own and not add another on top. It has a silicon brush so it helps coats every lash and add length to them all. This also adds a good amount of volume and depth to the lashes.

10 - Setting Spray

I forfeited a blush in place of a setting spray as a blush isn't always a must for me and I would much rather keep my makeup in place. My favourite is the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (£9.00), its a light mist that coats the whole of your face in a few sprays. With this my makeup doesn't seem to budge all day and it doesn't end up patchy or wearing away when I touch my face.

What would be your favourite products for a 10 step makeup?

  1. So many great products used! It reminded me I need to repurchase the Porefessional, I used to love that product. I haven't yet tried that Maybelline mascara but I will definitely need to as the original Lash Sensational is my holy grail mascara. Lovely post!
