TOP 3 HIGH END FOUNDATIONS

I'm not one to only buy high end products, however, when it comes to foundation high end trumps drug store every time for me. I do still wear drug store foundations but I just can't seem to find any with the finish, formula and luxury feel of these 3 favourites. And in my opinion foundation is an investment as it can transform your makeup.

This is probably my favourite foundation ever - and thats saying a lot as I've tried many. I originally got a sample of this when I was in NY last year and fell in love with it, I did get whilst I was over there but as soon as I was back I picked it up. The formula promises full, natural looking coverage but without the weight you can get with full coverage foundations and in my opinion it does exactly that. It's quite watery compared to other foundations so thats why I think it doesn't feel too heavy.

I have the shade Vallauris, which is a medium shade with pink undertones. Admittedly this is slightly too dark for me unless i've just tanned, although if I mix in some of the Body Shop lightening drops I can get the perfect shade. I will be picking up a lighter shade though! I find that this foundation pretty much melted into my skin and so it lasts all day. It has a kind of dewy finish but my face doesn't feel sticky like I have found with other foundations.

This was probably the first high end foundation I bought and I think its definitely one everybody needs in their collection. Double wear is the no. 1 foundation in the UK and promises 15 hour wear. If you're not a fan of thick, full coverage foundations then I'd steer clear of this one but I really love it for when I know i'll be wearing my makeup for a long period. The formula is quick thick and sticky but gives amazing coverage. It can feel a little heavy in the heat but I apply a lot of powder to mattify it and lock it all in place.

In terms of the selection of shades there is over 40 to choose from so you're pretty much guaranteed to find a shade to match yourself. This is what I love about high end foundation, they have such better shade selections that drug store foundations.

YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint Foundation | £32.50

This is the foundation counterpart of the much love Touche Eclat and I love it. It was reformulated earlier this year to offer more coverage and staying power whilst still feeling light on the skin. It's quite a full coverage foundation but not as heavy as the double wear. I would say the formula for this is in-between the other two in this post and I really love how it blends into my skin.

Like the Touche Eclat highlighting pen it has a light reflecting formula so your skin can really glow from within. When I apply it and then add a powder on top my skin still feels like its glowing but the powder sets it all into place. This foundation had 22 shades to choose from still a good amount and bound to be one for you.

What are your favourite high end foundations?

  5. I'm not a huge fan of that particular NARS offering, which is a shame, but I've been DYING to get my hands on both the YSL and the Estee Lauder options! They're just so damn expensive here in Australia. :( One day - sigh.

  6. I've never tried any of the NARS products but I've heard really good things about their foundations. I also like the look of their blushes, I think a splurge is in order!

  8. That Nars All Day Luminous Foundation is so polarizing - people either love it or hate it. I love it, and I'm always happy to hear someone else who does! I love Double Wear because it's a foundation you can always rely on. I haven't tried the YSL one but have always been so curious!
