So the sun has finally made an appearance in the UK and this time tomorrow I will be finished with uni forever! With the warmer weather in the UK and the possibility i'll be heading to Spain at the end of June I need to get my skin prepped for wearing shorts and getting a tan. If you're already a reader of my blog you'll know I do fake tan all year round so exfoliating is already a big part of my routine however it goes into overdrive when I know my legs will be on show more. Today's post is all about my favourite products to prep my skin.
I picked up this a while back in a Boots haul and it's been a favourite ever since. Compared to other scrubs such as the S&G this one is a lot creamier and so I feel like it moisturises as its scrubs as well. The apricot also smells deliciously sweet! I have found that this removes most of my dead skin and my skin is left feeling smoother and soft.
I've blogged previously about my love for the CB instant tan but i've been loving this one for keeping it topped up in between big tans. This comes out sort of like melted chocolate so i'd suggest applying it with a mitt otherwise you will end up with a dodgy tan on the palms on your hands (I learnt this from experience!) This smells much like the other CB tan but not quite as strong and it also doesn't have that awful biscuit smell. I've been using this tube now for about 4 months and it's still got quite a bit left!
This is the scrub I use on a day-to-day basis as it doesn't seem to be as rough as others. I also sometimes mix this with my shower gel or for a more deep exfoliation i'll use it with exfoliating gloves. The only thing I don't really like about this scrub is the smell, I can't put my finger on it but I just can't like it.
Okay I guess I need to admit that I have a slight S&G obsession, there products are just so good! Flake Away is what I like to use when I have patchy fake tan or very dry skin as its quite intense and I can feel the dead skin removed. This has a floral and musky scent and the grains are pretty much like the size of sugar grains, so it may be a little rough for those with sensitive skin.
Shockingly another S&G product but I'm absolutely obsessed with the scent of this one. Sugar Crush contains lime oil and lime tree blossom extract so you have an extra free citrus scent. I tend to use a body butter more in the evening as its a lot thicker and it can then sink in over night.
If you're a big fake tan user then you'll know it can go patchy quite quick. I have found a good exfoliation before application and continuing whilst its on can help remove those patchy parts. This mitt from St Tropez and its quite rough but its good for removing those patches of tan!
What are your favourite products to get your skin ready for summer?
