ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS | MODERN RENAISSANCE PALETTE

So hello to the palette of the moment. Since Anastasia Beverly Hills released this in May/June I had seen it on so many Bloggers and Youtubers. I originally had no intention of buying this as I really didn't need a new eyeshadow palette. However, after seeing tutorials and so many people swatching the palette I had to get my hands on it. The palette is available in the UK on both Beauty Bay and Cult Beauty at £41 (i'm a little annoying about the price at it's only $42.00 in the US).

I ordered my palette from Beauty Bay and it arrived the next day with free shipping. I'd never actually ordered from Beauty Bay before but had heard some horror stories about people's deliveries being left in the rain or broken when they have arrived but mine arrived without any damage and it was actually packaged quite well.

Before i'd even looked at the actually eyeshadows I was already so impressed with the packaging. Before I ordered I knew the palettes itself was a soft pastel purple but I didn't realised it had a soft velvet effect to it, which in my opinion really adds luxury to the palette. The packaging is that thick cardboard which means it isn't as heavy as some other plastic or metal palettes but I still find its study and safe for the product. You also get a great little brush with the palette, it's double ended and would be perfect for applying eyeshadow and blending it out.

In terms of the eyeshadows you get 14 in the palette which I don't think is bad for the price. The palette is a summer release and you can see this from the vibrant oranges, reds and pinks that are included. There are also a big selection of neutral shades for when I don't want a look thats so out there. All of the colours are either in a matte or shimmery finish.

I've never actually tried any ABH eyeshadows before but i'd heard great things about them so I was expecting a lot from this palette and I definitely wasn't disappointed! When I first swatched these they were so soft and buttery and when I applied to my hand the colour almost melted in and blended so well. As well as being buttery and soft the pigmentation of them is amazing (some of the brighter colours even stained my finger when I swatched them)! With the darker colours I found when applying to my eyes that you only need a little and then you can build it up.

The shade selection really is like no other palette I have with the reds and pinks but I also love the neutral shades. Some of my favourites are Vermeer a iridescent metallic shell shade, Love Letter a matte raspberry pink shade, Raw Sienna a matter amber shade, Primavera a shimmery gold and Warm Taupe a matte earthy grey. I'm really excited to create some neutral and more poppy bright looks with this palette.

Have any of your got this palette? What are your thoughts?

  9. This palette is incredibly pretty, my favourites are the bottom row in particular. So expensive for what it is though! Don't know if I can justify it yet x
