One of my favourite things about makeup is that you can always seem to find a cheaper alternative to some more expensive products. Whilst I still have a special place in my heart for high end products and will continue to but them finding a great, cheaper alternative is always a bonus. I wouldn't say these are dupes for high end as I haven't tried all the high end alternative to say whether they can truly be a dupe. However, in my opinion these have both the look and feel i'd imagine the high end ones too.
L'Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist | £7.99 (post) for Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray | £22.00
I picked up this L'Oreal version as i'd heard it was a good dupe for the UD one but at a fraction of the price. Although I have yet to try the UD one, when I use the L'Oreal fixing mist it definitely lengthens the time my makeup stays in place for and stops it rubbing off.

L'Oreal Infallible Matte Primer | £7.99 (post) for Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer | £25.00
I was a fan of the Smashbox primer for ages but seem to go through it quite fast and can't justify £25.00 every couple of months. I picked up the L'Oreal primer as it seemed to be a similar consistency and was also silicon based. Both of these primers smooth the skin and provide the perfect base for foundation. The only different is that L'Oreal has more of a matte finish compared to the Smashbox version.
NYX Studio Finishing Powder | £8.00 (post) for Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder | £29.00
This LM powder seems to be sold out every time I'm at the counter so its definitely popular. The NYX powder is a very similar texture and shade to the LM version and has that luxury feel to it just not the price tag. Although I haven't tried the LM one I have read countless times that these two are very similar.
Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Sculpting Crayon and Setting Gel | £10.00 (post) for ABH Brow Definer | £16.00
I was drawn to this S&G eyebrow pencil due to how similar it was to the new ABH brow definer. Both have an angled crayon to fill in the brown whilst the S&G one has the added bonus of a setting gel rather than a brush like the ABH one. The other difference these seem to have is that shade selection, S&G only have two shade and ABH have 10!
KIKO Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick | £6.90 (post) for By Terry Ombre Black Star | £29.00
I actually picked up these eyeshadow sticks in the sale so they were even cheaper but they are honestly amazing. They are creamy and apply smoothly to the eyes without catching on the skin. Their shade selection is also pretty incredible with 32 shades to choose from. Unfortunately I haven't tried the By Terry ones but heard from a lot of people these are pretty much the same without that price tag.
KIKO Precision Lip Pencil | £2.50 for MAC Lip Pencil | £12.50
I got told a couple of months ago that KIKO products are exactly the same as MAC so I wasn't going to miss out on these bargain lip liners. Owning both a MAC lip pencil and a KIKO one I can confirm that they both apply exactly the same. I have the shade #302 which I can't actually find on their website anymore but it's a perfect match for Velvet Teddy!
Maybelline Lash Sensational | £7.99 (post) for Benefit Roller Lash | £19.50
I would actually say I prefer Lash Sensational over Roller Lash, they both have a similar curved brush designed to keep lashes curled for longer. Lash Sensational's consistency is a little wetter which I think is why I prefer it, it seems to leave lashes looking fuller and longer in less coats.
I HEART Makeup Lip Lava | £2.99 for Too Faced Melted Lipstick | £19.00
The Lip Lava is in an identical tube to the Melted Lipsticks with a sponge applicator at the end. They both have a similar consistency and finish, although the Melted ones give you a more opaque look. If you are looking to try the Melted lipsticks but not sure if you'd like them then Id definitely say to try these ones out first!
KIKO Rebel Romantic Perfecting Bronzer | £8.90 for Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blusher | £30.00
I actually picked out this KIKO bronzer/blush because of how similar it was to the CT blushers. Both have one shade in the middle then another shade as an outer circle, it can either be swirled together as one or used separately. Unfortunately I can't find the KIKO bronzer online any more but it may be in some stores as I think it was on sale at Christmas time.
SEVENTEEN Stay Pout Lipstick in Just A Fling | £4.29 (post) for MAC Velvet Teddy | £15.50
SEVENTEENS Stay Pout Lipsticks are one of my favourite drug store ones and this shade is a great dupe for Velvet Teddy. Just A Fling is a coffee brown shade with a sort of matte/satin finish. This one definitely isn't as drying at Velvet Teddy is and although the colour play off is good MAC is just a little better.
KIKO Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush | £7.90 for NARS The Multiple | £29.00
This KIKO blush stick is great for giving your cheeks that dewy glow with a slight hit of shimmer. The shade Coral Rose #03 to me looks like a perfect match for NARS The Multiple in Orgasm which is also a rose pink shade. Although I haven't tried to NARS stick so I can't compare the application, the KIKO version certainly has a high end feel to it.
I HEART Makeup Blushing Hearts | £4.99 (post) for Too Faced Sweetheart Blush | £24.00
These blushing hearts are such a good dupe for Too Faced versions and packaging pretty much identically in the little hearts cases. The pigmentation of the Blushing hearts is good and it gives your skin a lovely glow. I haven't tried to Too Faced ones but i've heard great reviews before so i'm assuming they are great.

Have you tried out any of these products before?

I think Makeup Revolution do some of the best dupes for higher end products. Great post! XO -Kim

The L'Oreal mist is exactly the same as UD one, Although the mist of UD one is slightly finer but for the price i can live with it. How interesting about the LM & NYX powder. I've been wanting try the L&M one for so long but i will try the NYX one first xx

Thanks for sharing these great dupes, there are a couple of bits I've wanted to try, including the Benefit mascara but now I might just stick to the Maybelline one instead :D x

I really don't like the idea of shelling out for UD's setting spray so I think I'll try the L'Oreal spray instead, thanks for sharing!

I love the infallible primer and can honestly say it's the best I have tried :)

This is a really helpful post for me as a few of the more high end products I own but brought only as a treat so it's useful to know which products I could be getting for a fraction of the price! I adore the Urban Decay setting spray but will definitely have to give the L'Oreal one a go and save myself some money!

I love finding affordable high end alternatives! You've included a lot in this post :) which is so helpful xx

Kiko is such a great brand for the pricing, I've always loved everything I've tried from them! x

I've had my eye on the blushing hearts blush as a dupe of Too Faced for a while, great post!
ReplyDeletefourcatsplusus.co.uk
This was interesting and have to say I don't agree that the Maybelline mascara is a substitute for Benefit's. I found the Maybelline mascara to do nothing for my lashes while the Benefit one works like a charm. I suppose this is the difference that makes the world go round! :)

Great products!
ReplyDeleteI have to try the Stay Pout lipstick in Just a Fling, as I have had my eye on Velvet Teddy for ages. Thanks for sharing, love Kiko products they feel and look so high end yet they are so affordable x
