DRUGSTORE BASE PRODUCTS

When it comes to perfecting my makeup base, including primer, foundation and concealer I'm a high end girl at heart. They have such a better selection of finishes, coverage and it always seems to leave my skin looking much more flawless. However, for day-to-day use I tend to use drugstore and I have found a few gems on the market. Here is the run down of my current favourites...

FOUNDATION

I picked up this one as I wanted something to brighten my tired skin in the morning and a medium coverage for when I'm at uni or working. Wake Me Up promises to reawaken your skin with a healthy, radiant glow and has an anti-ageing effect - although at 22 i'm not too worried about anti-ageing. I find that this brightens my skin and is the perfect coverage whilst still letting my skin breath. It contains radiance pearls to illuminate your skin from within.

This was a purchase that broke my February spending bad, but after hearing a few bloggers rave about the lightweight formula I needed to try. Air Mat has a full coverage effect but without the thickness and your skin can still breath. This has been mine go to foundation recently for everyday use as I like the non-drying formula in the winter months but you still get a matt effect.

CC/BB CREAMS

Maybelline Care & Correct CC Cream

I picked up this in Thailand on our way back and can't actually find it stocked anywhere in the UK, so I'm assuming they don't stock it in the UK unfortunately. I'd never actually used a CC cream before this one but its great for when my skin is looking dull or tired. I have the shade pink glow, it comes out of the tube white but once applied to my skin it just seems to even out the imperfections.

This is one of those products that is great on its own or under your foundation, and helps illuminate your skin and leaves it with a radiant glow. When wearing it under foundation it creates the perfect base by priming, smoothing and minimising pores. I do find with this product though you only need a tiny amount to cover your face, and I'm often left with lots of product on my hands.

PRIMER

I picked up this after hearing Jasmine from Jasmine Talks Beauty rave about it. Its a cream based formula which blots out your skin, minimising pores and reducing any unwanted shine. If I've put this on under my foundation it keeps it all locked in place, even in those areas where is seems to wear away from. For £10 this is definitely one of those products you need in your collection.

I picked this up as it was in a duo with one of my favourites - the All-in-One BB Cream - but didn't expect a lot from it. But I was so wrong, I would liken this to the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in terms of the consistency. It evens out my skin and minimises pores, leaving the perfect base for your foundation application.

CONCEALER

I can't actually believe this little gem is drugstore product as the finish matches up to a lot of high end concealers. The thick cream hides imperfections and concealers my dark under eyes with a long lasting finish. I pretty much wear this everyday and make sure to have a back up supply.

Yet another amazing concealer from the drugstore for concealing those pesky dark under eyes I always get when I'm tired. This is quite a bit more watery than the Lasting Perfection Concealer and has a handy sponge applicator for getting under your eyes.

What are your favourite drugstore base products?
