If you haven't realise by some of my recent posts I'm pretty obsessed with painting my nails and my collection is huge. Wearing dark nails is probably one of my favourites as I find they go with a lot more and they always seem to make my hands look more tanned! Todays selection has a range of deep reds, purples and blues.
This deep purple shade and really lives up to its name; The Grape Debate. The polishes are always really pigmented and you get an opaque look in just a couple of coats. If you're into black polish but want something with a little twist this is perfect as its very nearly black.
This is pretty much the deep red version of The Grape Debate, its a dark red wine shade with an intense shine. Although I really don't find that your nails are dry in 60 seconds like advertised, it is long lasting.
H&M Mauve It Nail Polish | £4.99
This is probably my favourite shade of the lot and it is actually almost finished after only buying it October. Mauve It is a deep purple shade with cool brown undertones and I would say it sort of has a semi-matte finish, it isn't super shiny but isn't matte either. The consistency of these polishes is a little thick so it does take a while to dry.
I love the shade of this and the fact you can wear it as a matte finish or add a top coat for some shine. It's an opaque berry red shade and perfect for when you want something dark but nothing close to black.
This one is just a little different to the others with a hint of glitter. It a nighttime blue shade with hints of glitter, you do need a few coats to get an opaque look or it would look good layered over another blue shade.
This polish is great for when you know you won't be able to change your nails for a while as the gel effect really does last a while. This shade is very similar to Crush but just a little brighter.
This is a sort of greyed teal shade and one of those shades I've seen around the shops lots recently. Unfortunately, I find that Essie polishes need quite a lot of coats to get an opaque look and then that means they take a while to dry.
Models Own Gel Effect Sweet Sherry | £5.00
This shade is a mix between a brown and deep red and the gel effect is long lasting and after wearing for a while there still weren't any chips. The brush in these polishes is also great with a curved edge to ensure it gets to the edge of the cuticles.
What are you dark nail picks?
