With winter well and truly here, one thing I'm missing is that glow you get in summer. With it being dark at 4pm and probably only a couple of hours of the sun actually being out, getting that glow is an important park of my makeup routine. Unlike a lot of people I tend to stick to similar highlight and bronze shades all year round - blame it on the constant fake tan I have going on! The only thing I do switch up in Winter is opting for powder shades over cream, I find they blend easier and I don't always want a dewy finish in the cold season. Here are my top picks for getting that winter glow.
I recently blogged about this product so won't go into too much detail but it's a product that hasn't left my beauty routine. The shade Peach Nectar is actually designed for those with darker skin but I want to opt for a slightly darker highlighter. I've actually been using this for more of a contour rather than a highlight but it does add a lovely glow to my skin and defines by cheekbones to precision. It doesn't have chunks of glitter but more a subtle shimmer.
Bobbi Brown Pink Glow Highlight Powder | Product unavailable
I picked up this little beauty in the summer at Bicester Village and I'm so glad I did as I can't seem to find it anywhere online. I was drawn to this for the gorgeous pink and champagne marble effect and geometric pattern. The mix of the champagne and pink adds a lovely glow to your cheeks without being to overpowering. It's housed in a cute tortoise shell case with a gold Bobbi Brown monogram on top.
MUA Highlighter in Pink Shimmer | £3.00
MUA was actually the first ever highlighter I bought in the shade Iridescent Gold, which is a champagne gold shade. Pink shimmer is a soft rose pink shade, it instantly radiates and adds a glow to your complexion. This pink shade is perfect for highlighting or using as a subtle hint of blush to you flushed cheeks.
Topshop Highlighter in Horizon | Product unavailable
I'm so upset that this product isn't available any more - what are you playing at Topshop! Although this one is more of a bronzer rather than a highlighter but it adds the most gorgeous shimmery bronzed glow. I use this product as a base before I contour applying it to the hollows of my cheeks and hairline.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit | Product Unavailable (post)
I already have quite an in-depth post on my blog on this product so I won't go into too much detail, but I couldn't write a post about my favourite highlighters without including this dreamy palette. Unfortunately as I was writing this post I discovered its not longer available at Space NK online (it may still be in stores), so sorry to disappoint. The palette has the perfect selection of highlighters, bronzers and blushes, they are easy to apply, blend perfectly and you only need the tiniest amount of product to go a long way.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow | £49.00
Another of my recent purchases and a firm favourite for creating that filmstar finish. The bronzer sculpts and defines your cheeks to perfection and the highlighter captures light and gives you that luminous complexion everyone craves. The product is also housed in the most decadent rose gold packing with a decent size mirror perfect for carrying around with you.
