So my blog had been up and running for about 8 months know and its definitely been a learning curve but i've been loving every minute of it. Since i've been blogging there has been so much that I've learnt and didn't realise went into writing a blog, so I wanted to bring to you some of the main things I've learnt from blogging...
1. A lot more time and effort goes into writing a post than you think! Before I started my own blog I would spend hours reading posts from some of my favourite bloggers but I didn't realise how much time actually went into writing the posts. One simple post involves photography, editing photos, writing the post and social media to promote the post. For most bloggers, like me, this is unpaid as its something we enjoy. I tend to photograph and write my posts in bulk on the weekend or if I have a day of uni and will schedule for the rest of the week.
2. Bloggers don't automatically receive free products! When I started my blog it was never with the intention to receive free stuff, I started it as an outlet about something I enjoy. However, I did see that a lot of blogger do receive free stuff so that would be an added bonus. Being a relatively new blogger I have received a few free items but the majority of products I have bought myself with my own money.
3. The majority of the blogging community all support each other! One thing I have found being a blogger is just how supportive bloggers are of each. Going through high school and university I have found you always come across bitchy girls who only want to see people fail, but in the blogging world I have yet to come across that. From speaking to other bloggers online and meeting at events everyone is so supportive of each other and just wants everyone to do well!
4. You don't need to blog about every new beauty product! This is something I am still kind of guilty of, although it is also my makeup obsession. I do have a slight issue with buying makeup, however I have no realised that you don't need every new beauty product in the market to be able to blog. There is so many other post ideas and now that i'm a student i'll be digging into the back of my makeup collection for some inspiration for future blog posts.
5. There is no right or wrong way to blog! Being a blogger and reading other bloggers posts you make think that there is a certain way for it to be done or you can only write about certain things - this is not true. I started blogging as a creative outlet for something I love, and while I make be one of 1000s of other beauty bloggers I think we all have out own little niche. Although my blog is primarily beauty I still throw in the occasional lifestyle post because it's something I enjoy and my blog is for me!
I hope you all enjoyed this post!
