ALL ABOUT THAT BASE

Hi Everybody! How is everyone lately? I finished my placement over a week ago now but haven't actually got round to doing as much blogging as I wanted to - my days seem to get busy pretty quick at the moment (or I've been having Pretty Little Liars marathons). I'm heading off to Thailand on Thursday for three weeks, I'm planning to get some posts scheduled to publish while away so please don't desert my blog!

Todays post I wanted to bring to you some of my favourite products I use for the base of my make up. One of my favourite parts of my day is doing my makeup (if I could sit and experiment all day I would) and as much as I love playing around with eyeshadow and lip colours, I also love applying the base of my makeup. I love how you can instantly change your look with a different finish or shade.

MAC Blot Powder Pressed

This powder has been a favourite of mine for a while now and sadly its coming to the end of it so I think i'll be purchasing again while I'm at the airport. I have the medium shade and find its perfect for my skin tone. I apply on top of my foundation and concealer to remove any shininess and its perfect as it doesn't add any noticeable colour to my face.

The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream

This BB cream has been a favourite of mine for a while now, I originally had this about 18 months ago and when I used it all for some reason I never repurchased. Now I have it again I'm seeing why I loved it so much. When the cream first comes out it is white but once you apply to your face it transforms to perfectly match your skin tone. It has a light to medium coverage so doesn't feel too heavy on your face.

MAC Strobe Cream 

This little beauty was purchased whilst I was in New York and you can read a review here. I love wearing this under my foundation for a slight glow and helps enhance my skin when its looking a little tired.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

I instantly fell in love with this foundation whilst I was in New York when I had a little tester but in the end I didn't end up buying it. Since then I've been regretting it so picked it up a couple of weeks ago. I love this as the coverage feels full but natural and it doesn't feel at all heavy, its also long lasting even in the heat. You also need to use very little to get a great coverage so I know this will last me a while.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

This luxurious concealer is perfect for helping cover any blemishes and dark circles I may have. It has a light to medium coverage but if you want something heavier it can be built up. I have a shade a little lighter than my NARS foundation as I like my eyes to be brighter underneath.

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Loose Powder

On the website this is advertised a foundation but I use it to apply on top of my foundation. I use this powder underneath where I would apply my bronzer as its a darker shade than the MAC powder I have. It helps cover imperfections and looks natural and not too heavy.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturised (oil free)

This is another product I picked up in NY which you can read about here. Ive been loving this on its own and underneath my foundation, it's sheer and lightweight and helps create a natural look when worn on its own. I opted for the oil-free version as around my nose it sometimes feels quite oily and this helps minimise that.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

I've been loving this primer for years and its something that I always go back to in my makeup collection. It creates a perfect canvas to apply your foundation on top of, with a silky finish it helps decrease the look of fine lines and pores.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

When choosing a foundation its a big toss up between this one and my NARS one. I tend to use this one when I'm looking for more coverage as this one is a little thicker than the NARS one. This foundation is great as once its been applied it doesn't rub off at all or change colour. Although this one has a thicker consistency that the NARS one it doesn't feel at all heavy.
